Review: Tweezerman Tweezers

I have never owned a pair of Tweezerman tweezers in my life until recently.  I always thought this brand can not be any more superior than the other ones I've used and tried. I mean, they all pluck out hair - how hard can that be? And now I understand why people say that Tweezerman is the Rolls Royce of tweezers. True story.

First of all, let me just say, I think I have the cutest pair of Tweezerman tweezers. This is the Cheetah Orange from their Electric Safari collection. Adorable, right? :)

What I absolutely loved about it when I first tried it was that I didn't need a strong grip or give it a major squeeze when plucking out hair. I had a Solingen which gave my thumb and pointer finger cramps after using it.

The slanted tip really gets to the shortest stubbiest hair.

Such an amazing tool. I will never stray away from these. I absolutely love it.

Best thing about this is that I got it for just USD11.00 or Php478.00 from Sephora (a pair of full-sized Tweezerman tweezers go for about USD20.00 to USD25.00). Great deal, no? I should get another pair for my makeup kit...

Locally, Tweezerman is available at Beauty Bar.

Shall We Read Between The Lines?

This is what H&M announced on Twitter:

I just had to ask:

To my surprise, H&M answered:

I asked again:

Of course, they didn't answer my last question. Great way to leave me hanging and excited. And they leave me no choice but to read between the lines. Did they just say they will open soon? What do you think?

Tea Crazy

I've been obsessing over tea sets lately. Maybe it's because of the gazillion biscuits we received last Christmas. I just have this dreamy idea in my mind of having tea and biscuits. Hahaha. I've been looking for the perfect tea set but I haven't found one that I really, really like. I want something dainty but not too girly so no huge flowery designs please.

As I browsed online, I found this:
Joyce Chen 5-piece Flared Teapot Set
I like it but I want a more classic design like this:
Pfaltzgraff Winterberry Small Ceramic Tea Set
I actually want the teacups' body more curved but the designs of those kinds are too girly girly for me. This is actually still girly but tolerable. Maybe a plain one in white would be perfect. Or really boring.

But this is what actually caught my attention:
Kikkerland Robot Tea Infuser and Dip Tray
And this:
Kikkerland Monkey Tea Infuser and Dip Tray
Cute, no? Add this:
le mouton noir & co Doggy Hanger
I also would love to have this:
Norpro Porcelain Tea Bag Dispenser
Do you know where I could find a really nice tea set? Please point me to the right direction. If all else fails, I already asked my courier in the US if it is okay to ship breakables and they said yes. But I'm really hoping to find one locally as I don't want to receive broken pieces. You never know, right?

Let's see where my current obsession will take me. Help, please!

I'm In Love

I think I found the ONE. The moment I saw it, I was breathlessly in awe. Wooooooooooow. It is so, so pretty.

3.1 Phillip Lim Pashli Satchel Bag

I can't decide which color I like the most. They're all so gorgeous.

Taupe
Black
Jade
Ink
I'm liking the Taupe a lot. But the black one is nice too - a color that will go with everything. Jade and Ink are both wearable yet they will give you that hint of color without being too overpowering. Again, they're all so pretty.

I wish I had discovered these babies earlier. I was in HK before Christmas and there was a newly opened 3.1 Phillip Lim boutique in Harbor City but I didn't go in. Not that I had (and have) the money for this but it would be nice to see and feel this beautiful bag in person.

Soon. Soon. I better work my butt off then!

Retails for USD895.00 or Php39.072.10.

So which Pashli do you like best? Let me know what you think! :)

BECCA Nail Polish Review: Toasted Marshmallow

BECCA Toasted Marshmallow from the Lost Weekend Collection
I was finally able to squeeze in a much wanted ME time last week after neglecting my nails for almost two months - aaaaaack! I was literally falling asleep during my foot spa and mani session. It was really, really GOOD! :)

Anyway, BECCA is fairly new in the nail polish game. Mid last year, they launched their very first nail polish collection (with three really pretty and bright fruity colors) as part of their Halcyon Days Collection for SS 2011. For the second installment, they came out with a three-piece collection included in the Lost Weekend Collection for Fall 2011 and they were more muted and conservative than their older sisters.

The one I have - the Toasted Marshmallow - is a soft brown pink that is very wearable and is a safe universal color. This may sound weird but I actually feel more responsible and mature wearing this nail color! Hahaha!

My nail technician applied two coats of the nail polish (no base coat) and a coat of top coat (I believe she used one from OPI - Sorry, I wasn't really paying attention, I was sort of in heaven that time!).

Let me tell you more about the product. BECCA's nail polishes are formaldehyde free, toluene free, camphor free and DBP free. Say whuuuuuuut??? Hahaha. I'm sure you have guessed it, they are harmful ingredients (read more about them here) and it's good that you won't find them in BECCA's nail polishes. They're also fast drying and has a glossy finish. They also promise to last up to 5 days.

I liked that two thin coats were enough to give me an opaque and even color. It did dry pretty fast but not as fast as those quick drying formulas. Well, they aren't really quick drying anyways so that's great enough for me. I can't really comment on the glossiness since I have top coat on.

I'm on my fourth day of wearing the nail color and I have to say that it is holding up pretty well. However, I did get an itty bitty chip in a corner of two nails (of my dominant hand) the following day but they weren't even noticeable so nothing major. And I get that often with other brands as well.

Overall, I like BECCA's nail polish. Two thin coats and you're good! Plus, I love that BECCA's nail polishes are part of a seasonal makeup collection. It's just a great way to ensure you always look well put together.

See what I mean? (Photo from makeup4all.com)
BECCA is available at Adora, Greenbelt 5, Makati City.

I hoped you like my first ever nail polish review. Apologies for the lack of posts but I do have more stuff to review and share so please do check back often. :)

Hope you're having an awesome new year, guys!!! :)

Men and Makeup

Are you obsessed with your red lipstick? Do you love the smoky eye makeup look? Are you planning to chop off your long locks?

Hold your horses... You might want to read this article about hair and makeup looks that men hate. Not that we girls should live our fabulous lives to their preference but if you are trying to snag a date, finding out what they like and don't like might just help you to get asked out. :) There are also some tips here and there that would make you look a little more approachable or serious and businesslike.

What's not to like???
This is a fun read. I was actually surprised to find out that some guys do not like the looks that have always appeared sexy to me. I guess it is really a matter of personal preference. But this can be a helpful guide when you're prettifying not just for yourself. :)

2012 Nail Trends

I love prettifying my nails. Sadly, I haven't visited my trusted neighborhood nail spa and my nails have been bare for a month or so now. I did try to get an appointment before Christmas but they were fully booked and couldn't take me in and that was pretty devastating. I could just do it myself (I started painting my own nails when I was in grade six and even done french tips often) but it is just so hard to put polish using a non-dominant hand. Plus, a mani-pedi session should always be a chance for us girls to relax and feel pampered. :)

Since it is the new year, it is a great time to experiment and try new things. Bella Sugar's 2012 nail trend report is a perfect guide to a fabulous you in 2012. Let's see which looks we can pull off:

Personally, I love the matching lips and nails trend, especially if worn with a punchy color like the orange shown in the photo. I also love the timeless short & nude nails, very classic and elegant. I also like the bright nail colors which I have a few bottles of. For my least favorites, I don't think I would do mismatched nails - I would if I were still a teenager. And I don't think I would ever wear fake clear nails. I don't think I have to explain why. Hahaha.

How about you,

Which 2012 nail trend would you love to try?

I hope that the next time you have your nails done or buy a bottle of nail polish, you'll try one of the nail trends of 2012. It's the new year. It's time to have fun and be fun. :)
