Duty Free Shopping

I've been visiting Duty Free quite often lately. Not that I've been traveling a lot, my passport is actually due for renewal. I ask family and friends who travel to bring me there. And every time I go, I always come home disappointed, complaining how there's nothing to buy... It's the same stuff all the time, yet I always end up going anyway (with shopping bags afterwards).

Here are the makeup I got in one of my visits.

How To Try On Makeup Safely

Have you ever stopped and think if the makeup you're about to try in a makeup counter is clean? How many women do you think has tried on a particular eyeliner tester? *I hope none of them had any type of eye infection.* Do you think the last person who tried on the blush before you did yesterday had acne? *I hope you didn't apply it directly on your face.* Paranoid much? I sure am!

I was completely mortified when I read an article about makeup contamination in counters. I knew they're not as clean as we'd like them to be but I never realized how much bacteria is looming in those testers. We're talking about staph, strep and E. coli (which basically equates to feces or poop) bacteria. So we have to be extra careful when trying makeup in counters. Chances are, they are contaminated. I strongly suggest you try them at the back of your hand which you can easily wipe off with tissue and alcohol right away. But if you really must put them on your face (especially when buying foundation), here are things you have to remember, do and avoid.

Beauty Tip # 1

Hello August 1st! :)

Starting this month, I'll be sharing makeup and skin care tips. I'll also have a special feature every month... But I won't tell what it is so you have to watch out for that next week! I am very excited with what I have in store for this site! So without further ado, here is my first Beauty Tip... *drumroll*

Cream and gel brushes are perfect for tropical climates (and during summer), they give a very natural radiant glow. Apply on bare or moisturized skin. You may finish off with a light dust of powder for staying power. Avoid applying cream of gel blush after you put on powder since doing so will just will just make it cakey and blotchy.

I hope you like reading my entries. I really try my best to make my site worth your while. And I hope you check back once in a while as I'm sure you'll pick up a lot of things, just like I have while preparing for my newest Beauty Tip category! If you have questions, comments or suggestions, please leave a comment, sign my guestbook or send me an email at christinerojaslavina@gmail.com. See you again soon!
